Frequently Asked Questions

Use our new Sign Builder Tool to create your personalized sign! Or just give us the address and we'll use Google Maps Street View to find the street sign on the block closest.

See below for the complete list of standardization we perform to ensure a consistent and beautiful street sign for you! Contact us if you have any questions or want to specify any changes. Here's the (overly) technical specs on some of the more nuanced questions around Philly street signs - but we can change any of these to your liking at your request!

  1. Important Note: Contact us with any questions or customizations before placing your order, please! We are more than happy to create you a print proof of your exact sign completely for free - just fill out our contact form and supply the details of your sign.

  2. The Liberty Bell: Will be automatically added to the left side of the sign. It will always be yellow (some of the older signs still have the white version.) Want to remove it or replace it with another image? No problem, just let us know what you want.

  3. Middle Block Separator: (usually a directional letter: N, S, E, W, or "|") will always be yellow (some signs still have the older style in white.) This can be removed or replaced as you wish.

  4. Block Numbers: We use your street address to calculate these - house number "1125" would have the block numbers "1100" and "1200" since it resides on the "1100" block of that street. We will use Google Maps Street View to replicate the street sign closest to your address.

  5. Font: ALL CAPS font, unless requested otherwise. (While the newest version of street signs actually uses mixed case font, a large majority of the signs currently in place are the more historic uppercase version.)

  6. No Sign: If there is no street sign on your actual block, we'll use the street sign closest to your address on your street. We will use the theoretical block numbers that would appear if your block had a street sign.

  7. Rectangular Sign: If your sign is one the hideous, boring metal rectangular ones (gasp), we will automatically convert it to the "proper" Philly street sign format! We will also use your address to decide the correct block numbers and letter for the top portion of the sign.

  8. Arrows: We will always include the directional arrows that surround the block numbers. They have some curves on the point and feet of the arrow, even though some block signs still use the older style arrows with straight lines.

  9. Scaling: We will adjust the font size, letter spacing, sign width and height, and other aspects of the sign to correct render your street sign proportionally. If doing custom text, please reach out to us if you want line breaks or multiple lines of text stacked.

By default, we only do the actual street sign (the green portion of the sign). If you'd like the riders that are on the bottom of the sign as well, contact us!
